As Chief Human Resources Officer, Tony oversees a full array of human resource services including employee recruitment and retention, a comprehensive employee benefits program, and management education, including a focus on increasing diversity and inclusion. He provides leadership in developing and influencing strategies in order to increase employee engagement. A key element of Tony’s accountabilities is the development and implementation of an effective labor strategy in order to assure productive healthy relationships with our 19 separate bargaining units. These strategies position AHS as a key employer in Alameda County and a good place to work in health care.
Tony has served as AHS’ Vice President for Human Resources for more than 3 years, where he shepherded integration of employees of Alameda and San Leandro hospitals and led the recruitment and education functions. He has also been heavily involved in labor negotiations.
Prior to joining AHS, Tony worked at Stanford University Medical Center as Director of Human Resources responsible for recruitment, workforce planning, compensation and human resource project management. Prior to that position, Tony worked in leadership roles for Kaiser Permanente and at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, as well as recruitment organizations in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
Mr. Redmond holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Honors History from Swansea University, Wales of the United Kingdom.
